Reimagining school lunch
Welcome to The LULU Project
A non-profit initiative by LULU restaurant at the Hammer Museum
At The LULU Project, we believe every child deserves access to delicious, organic food—grown nearby, prepared with with their health in mind, and shared in a place that engages them. As part of our 501(c)(3) initiative, we provide free, nourishing lunches to Title I schoolchildren visiting the Hammer Museum, making each museum visit a full sensory experience.
This work is rooted in Alice Waters’ vision that food is a powerful tool for education, connection, and transformation. Alice’s latest book, “A School Lunch Revolution: A Cookbook”, charts a path forward—and we’re proud to walk that path right here in Los Angeles.
Serving a regenerative school lunch at LULU currently costs us about $10 per child—reflecting our commitment to sourcing from local farms and paying our team fairly. That’s where your support comes in.

Our goal is to serve every public school child who comes through the Hammer Museum a regenerative meal. As we grow this program in the year ahead, we invite you to join us.
In 2026, we aim to serve at least one school lunch every week. At $1,000 per lunch, our goal is to raise $52,000 to sustain and grow this work—and we hope you’ll be a part of it.
